'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Inferno

The loved ones of teens lost after a devastating inferno at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are confronting an excruciating wait for official news and appealing for clues about their loved ones online.

The fire ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated footage depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have indicated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the fire, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson noted on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with work continuing to identify the final individuals.

In the meantime, families and friends have been taking to online platforms to appeal for any news about their loved ones who were present at the venue that evening.

Appeals for the Missing

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of Lutry near the city, told a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She explained that some of his companions had been found with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured hell."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around the turn of the new year on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Genoa but now living in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who represented passion and true sportsmanship."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An representative has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother explained that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"A companion told me they fled after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his educators stated, "He was known for his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are closely watching the situation.
