Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community had expressed its support for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
